We are now another day closer to the planned weekend trip and plan A is officially cancelled. Not much you can do about the weather and people’s availability (or lack thereof). But, I am still trying to get plan D to go ahead.
Anyway, I’m still getting on with my food planning and getting gear sorted. Today I’ve been putting together my snacks.
As I mentioned in my last blog, this planned trip isn’t technical or too strenuous so I can afford to go a little light on snacks.
Snacks are an important part of the food bag, when you start to feel a bit flat, slowing down, and like you’ve had enough it’s a pretty good sign that you need a bit of a top up.
This is where the snacks come in really handy. I like to keep a selection in easy reach, so that when I start to feel flat I can grab a quick snack on the go and this will keep me going until the next meal stop.
For this trip, I’m planning on taking:
- Selection of raw nuts
- Dried whole bananas (1 per day)
- Muesli bar (1 per day)
- Pea chips (1 per day)
So that I can reduce the waste on the tramp I will put the dried banana and muesli bar in with the raw nuts.
